Easily Monitor Hard Disk And General System Activity With DiskLED

DiskLED is a free and flexible hard disk and general system activity indicator system tray applet. When you run it, DiskLED will sit in the system tray and flicker whenever the hard disk is accessed. You can also use DiskLED to monitor other performance indicators on your computer. DiskLED comes with a graphical configuration dialog that lets you choose from all performance counters available on the local system.

Back in the day when Desktops ruled, there used to be a little LED light in the front of the tower that showed your hard drive activity. Now with laptops and some new desktops many of us don’t have the LED indicator so we can’t easily see how much our hard drives are being accessed. Sometimes it’s useful to know whether the hard disk LED indicator on your computer is flashing. Because if it is, that will explain why the computer might be running slowly, or why it might be an idea not to restart the machine right now.
